Biological Target
Norepinephrine Transporter Description
The norepinephrine transporter (NET) is an integral membrane protein primarily found on the presynaptic terminals of noradrenergic neurons. It is a member of the solute carrier family 6 (SLC6) and is responsible for the reuptake of norepinephrine from the synaptic cleft back into the presynaptic neuron. This reuptake mechanism is critical for regulating the synaptic concentration of norepinephrine, thereby modulating neurotransmission and influencing various physiological functions in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
