From Frontline Medicine to Evidence-Based Pharmacology
We are Olga and Oleks — a doctor couple from Ukraine, living between the frontline dynamics of Dnipro and the scientific resilience of Kyiv.
Both of us lost a piece of our former identity on February 24, 2022, when full-scale war tore through our homeland. Doctors by training, we suddenly found ourselves transformed into humanitarian responders on the razor's edge of survival.
Olga was serving with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) inside the besieged city of Mariupol, witnessing unfathomable human suffering before barely escaping the encirclement alive. Meanwhile, Oleks watched his clinical medical practice in Pavlograd — which continues to serve as a critical frontline military and trauma outpost — completely nosedive as medical supply chains ruptured and civilian life halted.
As we relocated to Dnipro, Olga pressed on with MSF’s frontline emergency missions, while Oleks coordinated medical relief with Première Urgence Internationale and subsequently with FHI 360, where Olga joined shortly thereafter.
Today, we are expecting our first baby. We are planning our future private medical practice while navigating the surreal daily reality of war in Ukraine — double-walling in our apartment corridor, seeking shelter during ballistic alerts, and working late into the night trying not to get blasted by attack drones.
Through it all, our conviction has never wavered: we believe passionately in Ukraine's European future. We know that rebuilding our nation requires rebuilding its medical, pharmacological, and clinical research foundations. Ukraine possesses a rich, profound history of scientific discovery in health and pharmacy.
Our Missions & Scientific Initiatives
Pharmapoet is part of a larger ecosystem of evidence-based medical initiatives we founded to serve patients and doctors:
1. Orphanika
A dedicated initiative aiming to reconnect Ukrainian children and adults diagnosed with rare (orphan) genetic disorders with premier European and American clinical research institutions, clinical trial pipelines, and patient assistance programs — giving them a fighting chance to change their lives for the better.
2. Rx-Evidence (Pharmapoet)
The platform you are browsing right now. Our mission is to inform clinicians, pharmacists, and the public about the latest verifiable clinical evidence, mechanisms of action (MoA), and FDA designations — and to actively combat the snake-oil traders who exploit vulnerable patients by marketing non-evidence remedies and unproven products.
