Glucocorticoid Receptor
Biological Target
Glucocorticoid Receptor Description
The Glucocorticoid Receptor (GR) is a ligand-activated intracellular transcription factor belonging to the nuclear receptor superfamily. It is predominantly located in the cytoplasm in its inactive state, bound to chaperone proteins. Upon binding of endogenous glucocorticoids or exogenous corticosteroids, GR translocates to the nucleus where it binds to specific DNA sequences to regulate the transcription of target genes, influencing a wide range of physiological processes including metabolism, inflammation, and immune responses.
