Dihydrofolate Reductase
Biological Target
Dihydrofolate Reductase Description
Dihydrofolate Reductase (DHFR) is a ubiquitous cytosolic enzyme found in nearly all living cells. It catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate (THF). THF is a crucial coenzyme required for the biosynthesis of purine nucleotides, thymidylate, and several amino acids, thus playing a fundamental role in DNA synthesis, repair, and cell proliferation.
