Beta-1 adrenergic receptor
Biological Target
Beta-1 adrenergic receptor Description
The Beta-1 adrenergic receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily located on the surface of cardiomyocytes and renal juxtaglomerular cells. Upon activation by endogenous catecholamines such as norepinephrine and epinephrine, it couples to Gs proteins, stimulating adenylyl cyclase activity. This signaling cascade increases heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, and also promotes renin release from the kidneys.
